content
In this course, students research current trends in the broad management field, with special attention to topics surrounding blockchain, entrepreneurship and diversity. In the lectures students are taught the skills and knowledge required for searching and identifying hot and new (research) topics. They will learn how to rate the evidence-base of information to critically appraise the truth content of what they find. The lecturers provide students with starting literature and students additionally search journals, blogs, podcasts and other innovative data sources. Based on this research students, will prepare presentations where they should communicate their findings in the most interesting way to comprehensively understand these trends and to identify evidence that supports or contradicts these trends.
Content:
- Introduction to different management and general trends, especially blockchain, entrepreneurship and diversity
- Literature and information search
- Basics of scientific research
- Critical appraisal and discussion of information

The examination comprises two parts.
First part: A slide deck and draft. The final slide deck accounts for 30% of the grade, while the draft accounts for 20% of the grade.
Draft: 10 Slides; all slides according to template.
Final deliverable: approx. 35 slides in total, must include at least 5 - 10 references.
First Part grading: Students adhere to the provided guidelines.
Second part: Own in-depth research and application of learned methods - 50% of the grade. The results should be a visually appealing presentation of hot, new and true content with focus on the topics of the seminar. It also includes a few sentences on lessons learned and justifications of sources. Results can be handed in in a variety of different, creative and effective formats, such as video clip, infographic, own website. (avoid PowerPoint, or make it at least very nicely designed and animated or record a video with it.)
Second Part grading: Creativity, story telling, depth / detail of content; sources quality and visualization.
For any of the deliverables, students shall avoid boring, bullet-point heavy presentations and make use of new media formats that are suitable for today's environment, like useful animations, sound, video, graphical elements, and pictures.
