Renate Wagner has been a member of the Board of Management of Allianz SE since January 2020, responsible for Asia Pacific, Mergers & Acquisitions, and People and Culture. She studied mathematics and holds an MBA. She began her career in risk management at Westdeutsche Landesbank, followed by five years in consulting and audit at KPMG with a focus on banking. She then spent over a decade at Zurich Insurance Group, where she led change management, headed balance sheet management through the global financial crisis, and subsequently ran the life insurance business. Wagner joined Allianz in 2015, initially leading the offices of the CFO and later the CEO. From Singapore, she was then responsible for Allianz's life and health insurance business in Asia-Pacific — spanning 16 operating entities in 10 countries — where she oversaw the divestment of underperforming units and returned the region to profitable growth before joining the Board of Management.
