The development of Bitcoin and cryptocurrencies has attracted interest globally. The elimination of a third party required for processing payments was the main vision of the Bitcoin system. Today, there are numerous cryptocurrencies in circulation which are bought, sold, and spent. This thesis studies cryptocurrency payment systems to understand how cryptocurrencies are used in payments.
