💡 Background
Women (in Germany) remain disproportionately affected by old-age poverty, due to structural factors such as career breaks, part-time work, and lower financial literacy and preparedness. Studies show that women generally have lower financial knowledge and confidence in financial matters. This lack of confidence can hinder engagement with critical financial decisions such as investing or retirement planning. Given the increasing importance of individual responsibility in pension systems, targeted financial education could be a key tool to promote financial independence among women. The thesis should aim to develop an overview of female finance-related literature, with a special focus on experiments, and develop an experimental design to test the effectiveness of a female-targeted financial education intervention.
Potential outcomes:
- Systematic literature review of “female finance” related literature
- Review of related experimental studies
- Development of a concept and experimental design for a female-targeted financial education intervention
