💡 Background
SMEs face substantial hurdles when evaluating and implementing AI agents (e.g., uncertainty about suitable processes, limited resources, missing competencies, and lack of practical decision paths). At the same time, policy and ecosystem activity around AI adoption is increasing, making it valuable to connect academic evidence with existing public programs and observed needs. This thesis provides (1) a Systematic Literature Review (SLR) on AI agents in SMEs and (2) a desk-research mapping of existing insights and programs relevant to AI/AI-agent adoption in SMEs.
Potential outcomes:
- Systematic literature review: Synthesize evidence on use cases, value creation, implementation prerequisites, governance, and adoption barriers for SMEs.
- Desk research: Collect and structure existing non-academic insights (e.g., reports, practitioner evidence) and map relevant programs / insights to the needs and barriers highlighted in the literature.
- Develop a sound approach for market sizing of the potential when integrating AI Agents in SME
