An immense and rapidly growing volume of scientific research is published every year. However, the process of identifying groundbreaking, commercially viable innovations within this sea of information is manual, inefficient, and expensive. As a result, valuable discoveries with the potential for significant economic and societal impact often remain undiscovered in university archives. This inefficiency creates major bottlenecks for university tech transfer offices, corporate R&D departments, and deep-tech venture capitalists.
Paper Pulse is being built to solve this exact problem. We are developing an AI-powered SaaS platform that systematically analyzes scientific publications to uncover their innovation and commercialization potential. 🧢 Your Role: Dive Deep and Make a Tangible Impact
We’re looking for an ambitious student to take on a critical role in developing our core technology. This is a unique opportunity to apply your skills in a high-stakes environment where your work will directly contribute to a live product, not just a theoretical exercise. You will:
- Design a comprehensive, multi-dimensional scoring rubric for assessing the commercial potential of academic research. This involves grappling with complex qualitative and quantitative data, offering a fascinating challenge in defining "innovation potential."
- Implement a prototype of the AI scoring engine using state-of-the-art LLMs (e.g., GPT-4o). This is a hands-on opportunity to work with the latest advancements in AI, pushing the boundaries of what's possible in natural language processing and generative AI.
- Create a robust validation process by comparing AI-generated scores against evaluations from human experts (from TTOs and VCs). This involves developing sophisticated methodologies for comparing AI performance with human judgment, a critical learning experience in data validation and expert elicitation.
- Analyze the results to provide actionable recommendations for improving the AI model. This is where your analytical skills will shine, providing crucial insights that directly drive the development of our AI platform.
