We are more likely to comply with a request if it is coming from a perceived authority or expert. People will follow Credible Knowledgeable Experts – little things like wearing a uniform or having your diploma on the wall are simple ways to make them belive that you are a credible expert.
Science tells: if someone else puts you in the credible knowledgeable authority lights, it also works, so you don’t have to walk around and tell everybody what a genius you are.
