Decision-making and monitoring of decisions is one of the core tasks of Supervisory Boards. Despite the high economic relevance of the Supervisory Boards` decisions for the joint management of the company together with the CEO and the management team, factors influencing the decision-making quality of the Boards of Directors are so far insufficiently explored in management research. In this research project we systematize factors influencing decision-making processes in the supervisory work (which de-facto becomes more and more a kind of joint decision-making). In particular, we want to explain to what extent biases are transferable from general research in decision-making on specific board decisions. Furthermore, we deal with the question of how sub-optimal decisions in Board decision-making can be reduced or even fully avoided.
